2020 Australian Food Awards Cancelled

Recognising the widespread continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Australian Food Awards (AFA).

After extensive consultation with our AFA Industry Advisory Group, the consensus was that the health and safety of the community and all those involved in the delivery of the Award Program was at the forefront in making this decision.

We recognise the disappointment of many producers throughout Australia but trust you will understand the decision was made in the best interests of public health and provides as much notice as possible.

Prior to the COVID-19 restrictions coming into place, the judging of the Garlic Category of the 2020 AFA was completed with Boutique Garlic, Orange East, NSW awarded Best in Class for their Dunganski garlic (standard purple stripe).

The AFA is Australia’s leading national food awards program having grown from the Royal Melbourne Fine Food Awards in 2016. For more than 120 years, the RASV has proudly provided a platform for food and beverage producers to benchmark their products and provide differentiation in the market for award winners.

We will use this time to review the AFA program, schedule and class offering, ensuring it remains both highly respected and relevant for industry and consumers.

Thank you to all exhibitors, stewards, judges and sponsors that have supported the AFA. We are forever grateful and will work to ensure a successful return in 2021.

For any questions please email food@rasv.com.au and one of the competition managers will respond as soon as possible.

Take care of yourself and your loved ones and we will continue to keep you in informed of any announcements of the 2021 Australian Food Awards.
