The Arts, Crafts and Cookery exhibition at the Melbourne Royal Show is always full on interesting, quirky, and inspiring creations from apple pie making, fruit cake judging, fashion creations, photography exhibits and more. One class that never fails to amaze is the Best in Show Decorated Cakes competition and this year, Penny Bunz and her incredible Emu and Possum creation took home blue-ribbon glory in the feature event. The stunning native creation was such a hit with fans, it also picked up the Most Popular Choice Award.

Melbourne Royal is incredibly grateful for the thousands of competitors who competed to win a coveted Melbourne Royal Blue ribbon and the hundreds of volunteers who generously provided their valuable time to assist us in presenting the 2024 Melbourne Royal Show.

The Melbourne Royal Show proudly hosted the finals of the prestigious National Rural Ambassador competition, where each state sent their young ambassador to vie for the Australian title. Finalists, representing various industries, were interviewed by a panel of judges and enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of Melbourne Royal.

The excitement reached a fever pitch at the Melbourne Royal today, where the air was thick with anticipation as competitors showcased their finest livestock and showmanship skills. From the majestic mane of the Champion Show Hunter Galloway to the nimble paws of the best canine competitors, the day’s events celebrated excellence in equestrian, canine and cattle competitions.

Melbourne-based Stephanie Barrington won the 2024 Garryowen on Global PPS (produced by Romsey Park), a magnificent gelding acquired by his rider as a yearling. The pair have since gone on to claim hack titles at major events including the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Barrington previously won the Garryowen in 2011 on retired thoroughbred racehorse, LA.
