Australia’s best garlic has been declared in Melbourne with the judging of the 2020 Australian Food Awards (AFA) Garlic Category wrapping up last week. Conducted annually by The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV), the Australian Food Awards celebrate excellence and recognise the best producers of premium food across the country.

The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) named Melville Park Herefords, Vasey, Victoria, as the RASV Heifer Challenge Champion for 2020 at a prestigious celebration last night at Melbourne Showgrounds, following eight days of on-farm judging. The Vasey located property, led by David Lyons was selected from the 32 entered properties to be awarded the honour and a $3,000 cash prize.

The annual event celebrates and recognises the best brewers across the world with up to 34 trophies presented to the champions of each category, including the overall Champion Australian Beer and Champion International Beer.

A delegation from The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV), led by President Matt Coleman, attended the inaugural Australian Shows Association (ASA) conference on the Gold Coast from 17-18 January. With the theme of Stronger Together, Building Resilient, Adaptable Shows, more than 260 people descended on the Gold Coast to celebrate and share ideas on the future of agricultural shows across Australia and New Zealand.

A new Head Judge, a range of new classes and two new trophies highlight the list of exciting changes in store for the 2020 Australian Distilled Spirits Awards (ADSA).
